GROWING TIPS

  • Days to Maturity: 45 days to full maturity.
  • Ideal Soil Requirements: Well draining loamy, or sandy-loam soil that retains moisture, but drains well, and is rich in organic matter, such as compost. Maintain a soil pH between 6.0 and 7.5, with 6.5 to 7.0 being the sweet spot.  Avoid heavy, waterlogged clay that causes root rot.
  • Fertilizer & Nutrients: Because bok choy is a heavy feeder, the soil needs plenty of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium
  • Sun exposure: 4-6 hours of full sun, partial shade ok.
  • Ideal Temperature: 60-80 F. Fall planting should be done after high temperatures drop to cooler days to prevent bolting (bolting is when plants send up a central stalk to make a flower).
  • Plant Spacing: 1-2"; thin to 12"
  • Frost Hardy: No
