WHO ARE WE

We are an urban agriculture company that designs, builds and installs raised beds for people who want to grow their own food and herbs for culinary and medicinal use. We provide related products and services to support our finished project’s longevity and sustainability.

 

WHAT WE DO

We incorporate gorgeous foodscapes where people live, work, play, and learn. We have partnered with schools, public parks, homeowners and city agencies to create sustainable food production systems that educate, feed, and inspire a new generation of urban farmers. We promote our community Elder Olivia Chumacero's ethic that everything is medicine and we are here to help you connect with the sacred healing power of place in your home, school, park and work environment.

     

HOW WE DO IT

We collaborate with our clients and partners to design, install, and maintain organic edible gardens tailored to a wide range of site-use requirements. Whether you are integrating raised beds into an existing landscape design or starting with a blank slate to build a full-scale sustainable micro-farm, Sacred Earth Foodscape can jump-start and maintain your operation from seed to harvest.  We specialize in small- to mid-size organic foodscapes that transform a backyard, sunny balcony, or roof-top into a thriving green space and bountiful food source.

We offer 3 tiers of maintenance service to move your finished Foodscape from the initial planting stage through final harvest. 

(1) Full-service Personal Farmer: A skilled Sacred Earth Farmer provides full service garden maintenance to your foodscape from soil prep and seeding to crop management and harvest. Their expert knowledge about soil fertility, crop management, organic pest control, irrigation, companion planting, and more reduces crop risk through knowledgeable problem solving and timely intervention. Weekly harvests are placed in a designated location of your choice on your property, allowing you to reap the benefits of your personal backyard micro farm without risking crop failure due trial and error mistakes or time constraints. Time: 2 hours per visit, 1 to 2 visits per week as needed depending on stages and phases of crop development.

(2) Collaborative Gardening: A skilled Sacred Earth Farmer joins you in the garden weekly or bi-weekly as your schedule allows. You collaborate to monitor, assess, and take action on tasks to maintain soil fertility, install plant supports, maintain a successive planting schedule, apply natural pest controls, prune and/or weed, and other tasks as needed. Collaborative Gardening may be used to identify, plan, record field notes of additional tasks to be completed independently within the same week by the client, thus reducing the weekly cost of maintenance.  This option is ideal for the client that wants to build the knowledge and trouble shooting skills to independently and successfully grow their own food. Time: 2 hours per visit, 1 to 2 visits per week. 

(3) Garden Coach: A skilled Sacred Earth Farmer joins you in the garden on an as-needed basis anytime throughout the growing season to troubleshoot specific issues, concerns and questions. Clients are asked to complete a Needs Assessment Questionnaire that lists specific questions, gardening issues/concerns, and what strategies they've tried already. A Sacred Earth Farmers contacts you to schedule an on-site Garden Coaching session and provides a packet of resources to support your follow -up action plan. Time: Minimum: 2 hours per visit, as needed.

  • SACRED EARTH FOODSCAPE: Design, installation, and weekly maintenance of raised vegetable beds, medicinal and culinary herb gardens, and composting systems by a Full-Service Personal Farmer. Optional Collaborative Gardening and Garden Coaching sessions move you toward an autonomous self-sustaining foodscape.
  • STAR SEED NURSERY: Potted herb and vegetables seedlings propagated under the powerful influences of the moon and stars to produce robust and vibrant plant personalities for your garden. 
  • BOTANICA SEMATI: A boutique collection of handmade salves, tinctures, oils, and balms that call upon our plant relatives to help us walk in beauty on the planet. Lovingly crafted with insights gleaned from meditation, intuitive wisdom, and traditional cultural practices that guide our communion with plantitas to appreciate, comprehend and unleash their inherent healing power. 
  • SANA-SANA PLANT WISDOM: A collection of workshops, presentations, and demonstrations that promote awareness, understanding and relationship with our plant relatives and plancestral knowledge.
